Finding Fateer

I don't know what I did to deserve friends who ply me with delicious foods, but I'm grateful. One of my friends has shared, among other things, home made jams--fig, mango, and orange marmalade--and recently introduced me to the wonders of fateer. It's an Egyptian pastry/pancake/croissant-y kind of thing that is made with lots of butter and/or oil. I ate my first portion heated on the Foreman Grill and spread with some of the fig jam. Next, I'll try it with a little Nutella. So satisfying! Yum!

Last night we wandered into Al Quds Modern Bakery and among the cookies and pastries I also saw fateer. Dangerous knowledge. At least it's a little inconvenient to get there...
